A weekend retreat in the Work of Byron Katie
July 14/15 2012,
Snow Creek Yoga Center
Leavenworth, WA, USA
[Byron Katie's] method of inquiry taught me how to question the stressful thoughts that are the only obstacles to happiness. It was humbling to discover where I was still arguing with reality after decades of inner work.
- Stephen Mitchell, translator of The Tao Te Ching
The Work of Byron Katie is a simple yet profoundly powerful process of self-inquiry. It is a skillful and accessible practice that appeals to a wide diversity of people wanting more peace and possibility in their lives and work, and freedom from suffering. It is also a complementary process for many practitioners of meditation and yoga who find that it helps them deepen their core practice, and gives them an effective tool for bringing curiosity, compassion and deep learning to places they get stuck and stressed – in their own practice, in life, work, relationships and in unhealthy or stressful patterns.
The Work is a practice of identifying the thoughts, beliefs and assumptions that keep you stuck, and suffering, and then using the 4 questions and turnarounds of the Work to meet your own mind with a depth of understanding that opens space for possibility and transformation.
Join us for 2 full days of inquiry. Learn to do The Work if you are new, deepen your practice if you have experience. There will be lots of opportunity to dive into your own inquiry with learning and support.
It is my experience that this Work gives me the opportunity to truly realize for myself, in the most challenging areas of my own life, what I hear from spiritual teachers when they speak and write about peace, acceptance, connection and love. After practicing meditation and yoga for decades, I am still amazed at the multitude of thoughts that arise in my mind, and at how disruptive they can be when they remain unquestioned. I would wholeheartedly recommend this retreat (in the Work) to anyone who is interested in bringing balance, peace and poise from the meditation seat and yoga mat into the other hours of the day and night. As Byron Katie says, &ldquI don’t let go of my thoughts. I meet them with understanding and they let go of me.”
- Vivian Chenard, Salt Spring Centre of Yoga, BC
